韓國中央選舉管理委員會4日上午召開全體會議，正式確認共同民主黨候選人李在明當選第21屆韓國總統，李在明隨即開啟其總統任期。

South Korean President Lee Jae-myung formally began his single five-year term after the National Election Commission confirmed his election victory on Wednesday.

Lee assumed the presidency at 6:21 am local time with the election watchdog's approval during a plenary session.

中央選舉管理委員會4日發布的計票結果顯示，在本屆總統選舉中，李在明的得票率為49.42%，國民力量黨候選人金文洙的得票率為41.15%，改革新黨候選人李俊錫的得票率為8.34%。

Lee of the majority liberal Democratic Party won the snap election with 49.42 percent of the vote, beating his major rival Kim Moon-soo of the conservative People Power Party with 41.15 percent.

韓國于3日舉行總統選舉。3日深夜，多家韓國媒體表示，李在明當選總統“已成定局”。4日凌晨1時36分，金文洙承認敗選，并向李在明表示祝賀。

Local broadcaster JTBC and three terrestrial broadcasters including KBS, MBC and SBS forecast earlier that Lee was certain to be elected the country's 21st president.

李在明4日凌晨來到汝矣島國會前發表講話，對國民表示感謝。他說，要團結國民，當前最明確的任務是復蘇經濟、恢復民生。他還表示，將尋求韓朝對話、共存和共同繁榮的道路。

本屆選舉是韓國自1987年憲政改革以來第二次在總統缺位情況下選舉總統，當選總統無交接期，在選舉結果正式確定后立即履職。

He had no transition period as he was elected in a presidential by-election, caused by his predecessor's botched martial law bid last December.
