宣紙的歷史悠久，據史料記載，唐代時已經有人使用宣紙進行書畫創作。到了宋代，宣紙的制造技藝逐漸成熟，開始在民間廣泛流傳。明清時期，宣紙已成為中國書畫藝術的重要載體之一。

With a long history, records show Xuan paper was already used for calligraphy and painting in the Tang Dynasty. By the Song Dynasty, the craftsmanship of Xuan paper had matured and became widely used among common people. During the Ming and Qing dynasties, it grew into one of the most important mediums for Chinese calligraphy and painting art.

The production of Xuan paper involves complex and delicate craftsmanship. It goes through multiple steps including material preparation, pulping, sheet forming, pressing, and sun-drying.
